On June 11, 2024, at the stroke of midnight Beijing time, the annual Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC24) commenced at Apple Park. Besides announcing the release of the Vision Pro’s domestic version on June 28, the newly upgraded vision OS 2 was also officially launched. In the visionOS 2 update, Apple added data functionality to Guest Mode, capable of retaining visitors’ eye-tracking and gesture recognition calibration data for up to 30 days. Specifically, with Optic ID, which is based on iris recognition and eye-tracking technology, visitor calibration information can be automatically identified and switched, eliminating the previously lengthy, cumbersome, and repetitive visitor calibration process. This allows Vision Pro to be better shared among family members and colleagues.
Apart from Apple, domestic companies have also laid out strategies for key technologies involving iris recognition and eye tracking. Qixin Yiwei, in collaboration with WeChat Pay and Skyworth XR, has launched an ‘XR Iris Recognition & Eye Tracking’ comprehensive solution. This solution has completed the overall optimization of hardware, software, and algorithms and is expected to be unveiled to the public soon.
Leveraging over 15 years of research and development in eye tracking technology, SevenSenses has created the only ‘single-eye dual-camera’ XR eye tracking solution in China that is comparable to Apple’s Vision Pro, with accuracy and availability reaching advanced industry standards.
Thanks to continuous innovation and breakthroughs in XR eye tracking technology, SevenSenses has established in-depth cooperation with top domestic XR brands such as Goertek, Zhongke Chuangda, Skyworth XR, Pimax Technology, XREAL, DreamPlux, Rokid, Lebird Innovation, and Yijin EmdoorVR.
