Today, the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) officially commenced in Las Vegas, USA. The world’s most cutting-edge products and technologies from numerous manufacturers gathered here. Among them, NOLO VR, in combination with Oculus Go, showcased a 6DoF mobile VR experience. Featuring the popular VR ‘battle royale’ game *Stand Out VR Battle Royale* and a product portfolio nearly equivalent to 5G cloud VR, it attracted significant attention and participation from visitors. Let’s take a closer look at the surprises this combination brings.
Prior to this CES, our understanding of NOLO CV1 was that it is a VR positioning and interaction peripheral capable of adapting to mobile VR all-in-one devices and PC VR headsets, enabling players to enjoy thousands of VR games on Steam. However, today at the NOLO VR booth, they once again impressed everyone. They not only demonstrated wireless gameplay of Steam VR games using Oculus Go with NOLO CV1 adaptation but also debuted a 6DoF mobile VR experience based solely on the mobile VR all-in-one device—Oculus Go. This is the same experience highly praised by Oculus founder Palmer Luckey on his personal social media. The content experienced was *Stand Out VR Battle Royale*, a game that once dominated the Steam VR charts, commonly referred to as the VR ‘battle royale’ game. In simple terms, NOLO VR demonstrated that after adapting a mobile VR all-in-one device with NOLO CV1, users can experience high-quality 6DoF mobile VR games without the need for a computer, using only the VR all-in-one device. According to on-site player feedback: ‘This is incredibly powerful. Using just Oculus Go to play mobile 6DoF VR ‘battle royale’ games, the positioning and interaction experience is almost indistinguishable from the PC version! Additionally, this combination also allows playing VR games on Steam, opening two new doors for Oculus Go!’ Envisioning the Future of 5G Cloud VR Whether it’s playing Steam VR games with Oculus Go or experiencing 6DoF mobile VR ‘battle royale’, one critical aspect cannot be overlooked—’wireless’. NOLO VR accomplished these experiences entirely through wireless network communication and transmission. This inevitably leads to associations: no computer required, 6DoF positional tracking and interaction, all-in-one mobile VR devices, and wireless data transmission. If 5G technology officially begins widespread adoption for the public, are we not already witnessing the prototype of 5G Cloud VR? Previously, Mr. Zhang Daoning, founder and CEO of NOLO VR, stated that NOLO VR has already initiated varying levels of cooperation with China’s three major telecom operators on 5G Cloud VR projects. It is believed that 5G Cloud VR is no longer a distant prospect.
The VR positioning and interaction equipment, with an exceptionally high ‘appearance rate,’ was not only present at NOLO VR’s own booth but also spotted at the exhibition spaces of manufacturers such as Huawei, Skyworth, Dream, Yijiang, and Nibiru. This reminded the author of the scene at the 2018 World VR Industry Conference in Nanchang, Jiangxi, which was almost identical—every short distance, people could be seen using NOLO CV1 paired with various brands of VR headsets or other VR peripherals to experience VR games, often surrounded by large crowds. Today, at the 2019 CES NOLO VR booth, we observed the prototype of 5G Cloud VR equipment and experienced high-quality 6DoF mobile VR games. Looking ahead, when 5G Cloud VR truly arrives, what kind of experiences will NOLO VR deliver? Let us wait and see.
