QooCam 3D/360 Camera Launch

The world’s first “2-in-1” 3D/360 camera, QooCam, will officially go on sale on August 21st via Kandao Tech’s official store, JD.com, and Sundan. Initially launched on Kickstarter in early May, QooCam is designed as a new-generation “travel camera” for young creators. Within just 3 hours of its campaign launch, it raised over $100,000 and ultimately concluded with nearly $600,000 in funding.

Featuring a unique rotating axis and triple-lens structure, QooCam supports 4K high-definition 360° video recording with advanced image stabilization for seamless follow-shot effects. It also enables 3D stereoscopic imaging, leveraging cutting-edge technology to achieve “focus after shooting” and immersive VR content creation.

“Unlike traditional 360 cameras, QooCam combines both 360° panoramic and 180° stereoscopic 3D shooting capabilities,” said Chen Dan, founder and CEO of Kandao Tech. “By integrating professional-grade patented technologies into this consumer-friendly device, we aim to introduce a new imaging experience to everyday users.”

With endorsements from tech giants like Google, VR180 has emerged as the latest trend in VR video. Its ease of shooting and editing makes it a key driver for broader VR adoption. QooCam’s triple 216° FOV fisheye lenses and rotating mechanism allow switching between 360° and 180° modes by folding or extending the handle, catering to diverse travel scenarios.

The camera records 4K-resolution videos and photos at 30fps/60fps/120fps in both modes. It supports Google’s VR180 format and features a built-in IMU stabilization sensor, real-time software stabilization, and anti-shake algorithms to eliminate motion artifacts like (offset), (tilt), (jitter), or (rotation) during shooting.

No stabilizer needed—QooCam effortlessly captures smooth footage during hiking, climbing, running, cycling, driving, and more. It supports 4K UHD resolution for panoramic videos and photos, utilizing a wide-angle fisheye lens to capture every angle. With its proprietary real-time optical flow stitching algorithm, users can obtain seamless, fluid footage directly on their smartphones without needing a computer. Shoot first, edit later, and share traditional flat videos with ease.

Superior stabilization eliminates the need for a stabilizer, while the ‘Refocus’ feature creates wide-angle cinematic portraits. Another standout feature is its 3D stereoscopic capability, leveraging depth imaging technology to produce ‘Refocus’ and ‘Recompose’ effects. Previously, this technology was integrated into the professional-grade Obsidian VR camera, enabling ‘six degrees of freedom’ (6DoF) VR experiences. Now, QooCam brings this cutting-edge imaging technology to consumers, using 3D depth mapping to unlock creative post-processing possibilities. Currently, QooCam offers ‘Focus After Shooting,’ allowing users to select focus points in the app after capturing 3D photos, creating stunning wide-angle portraits with deep depth of field.

Compact and travel-friendly, QooCam targets consumer users in the travel imaging market. Weighing just 170g, it supports standalone use or remote control via its app (iOS and Android compatible). Users can expand storage up to 256GB with a Micro SD card to store photos and videos. Its elongated handle design eliminates the need for tripods, while the built-in 2600mAh battery delivers 180 minutes of runtime—far exceeding the 40-60 minute average of similar products.

Easy to use, QooCam connects to smartphones via WiFi for editing, viewing, and intelligent framing of panoramic videos. The app also supports smart subject tracking for enhanced creativity.

With QooCam, you can share content directly to social platforms without the need for additional editing tools or external devices like computers.

Before its official launch, QooCam had already secured four prestigious international awards: the CES Innovation Award, German iF Design Award, Edison Award, and Red Dot Award. Kandaovr aims to position it as the next-generation “travel photography” camera, offering users greater creative possibilities.

The QooCam 3D/360 camera is now available for purchase on Kandaovr’s official online store (http://www.kandaovr.com) at a retail price of 2,499 RMB. It will soon be available on JD.com, Taobao, and Suning.
